VINTAGE NOTES : The 2023 vintage in Napa Valley is being hailed as one of the best in recent memory, a true "vintage of a lifetime." The season was characterized by a long, cool growing period with no major heat spikes, a stark contrast to the preceding hot vintages. This extended hang time allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, achieving full phenolic maturity without excessive sugar accumulation. The result is wines that are fresh, balanced, and elegant, with vibrant acidity and lower alcohol levels than in typical Napa vintages. The generous winter rains also played a crucial role, replenishing soils and ensuring healthy vine growth, which contributed to an above-average yield. This combination of perfect weather, extended ripening, and healthy vines allowed winemakers to create Cabernets with remarkable purity, complexity, and a classic structure that promises excellent aging potential.
WINEMAKING NOTES : 3 individual blocks came together to make our hand-picked, and hand sorted
2023 CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrels. The lots were aged in French oak barrels for 22 months. 1/3 new French oak. Blending was done 2 months prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES : The 2023 Reserve is a plush and luscious wine, layered with scents of blueberries, raspberry. cassis, orange peel, and aniseed. The full-bodied palate is powerful yet velvety, with concentrated, mineral-laced fruits and fine tannins that swirl and cascade through the layers of fruit. The tannins really are the focus here—they are powdery and precisely laced with mineral acidity.
